Import Contacts

Import Contacts

You can import contacts from other contact managers, such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, or ACT!, into your Zealder contacts list. Contacts are imported from a CSV (comma-separated values) file that you export from the other program first.

To open this page, go to Contacts > Import Contacts in your Zealder admin dashboard. (This page requires the Admin permission.)

Step 1: Export a CSV from your other program

  1. Choose your source program (Outlook, Outlook Express, or ACT!) and click Continue.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to export your contacts from that program to a comma-separated values (CSV) file. Make a note of where you save the file.

Step 2: Upload the file

  1. Click Select File and choose the CSV file you exported.
  2. Leave Don't allow duplicates checked to skip contacts that already exist in your list. A contact is treated as a duplicate when the first name, middle name, last name, and email address all match an existing active contact.
  3. Optionally choose a group under Save in Group to add every imported contact to that group.
  4. Submit the form to import. Zealder maps standard columns automatically, including name, home address, home/work/mobile/fax/pager/other phone numbers, and up to two email addresses.

When the import finishes, Zealder shows how many contacts were successfully added.

Imported contacts are marked as added manually, so you can filter for them later on the Contacts List page.
