Add Post

Posts are the articles that make up your blog. They appear newest-first on your blog, can be organized with categories and tags, and are included in your site's RSS feed. Here's how to write and publish one.

Write a post

  1. In your admin panel, open Blog > Add New Post.
  2. Enter your post title in the top field.
  3. Write your content in the main editing box below the title. You can add text, links, and images.
  4. As needed, choose a category, add tags, and adjust the other settings described below.
  5. When you're ready, click Publish.

Post fields

Title

The headline of your post. You can use commas, apostrophes, quotes, and dashes. Your title is also used to create a clean, URL-friendly web address for the post (the permalink). Avoid reusing the exact same title twice.

Content box

Where you write the post. You can compose in the visual editor or switch to a text/code view for finer control over the HTML.

Preview

See how the post will look on your live site before you publish it.

The post's permanent web address, generated automatically from your title. Punctuation is removed and spaces become dashes — for example, "My Town - Spring Market Update" becomes my-town-spring-market-update. You can edit the permalink to shorten or adjust it.

Publish settings

The Publish box controls the status and visibility of your post.

  • StatusPublished makes the post live for everyone, Pending Review marks a draft as awaiting an editor's review, and Draft keeps it private and unpublished.
  • VisibilityPublic posts are visible to all visitors. Password Protected posts require a password to read. Private posts are visible only to you and to your editors and admins.
  • Schedule — click Edit next to "Publish immediately" to publish at a future date and time, or set a past date to back-date a post. Click Publish when you're done.
  • Save Draft — saves your work without publishing. To return to drafts later, open Blog > All Posts and pick the post from the list.

Organize and protect the post

  • Categories — the broad topic for the post (for example, Market Trends or Buyer Tips). Readers can browse a category to see every post in it. Click Add New Category to create one on the spot, or manage them under Blog > Categories.
  • Tags — keyword labels for the post. Posts with the same tag are linked together. Type a tag and click Add.
  • Password protect — click Edit next to Visibility in the Publish box, choose Password Protected, enter a password, and click OK. Editors and admins can still open password-protected and private posts without the password.
  • Revisions — a history of changes to the post. Open a revision to compare it with the current version and restore an earlier one if needed.
